“I first
started seriously painting horses when my daughter
Angelique started taking horse riding lessons when
she was in grade school. I spent a lot of time
at the stables with her, but especially at the ring
where I would watch the horses go through their passes
at the walk, trot and canter. I often would
do paintings in the studio from the sketches I would
do there but sometimes, I just would load up the
paints in the car and work directly on site out of
the trunk of the car. I just love trying to
capture the spirit and flow of the horse’s
movement.”
