“I call my people paintings “people-people” and they show people gathering at markets, festivals, bazaars and parties.  Where there are people, there is color, movement and life.  I’m inspired by the animation and the activity.  In every country we traveled to, I used to get up early in the morning to go to the open air markets where they sell fish, flowers and vegetables.  At these markets I’d watch them unloading the goods, see the sellers argue amongst themselves, see the customers inspect the items and haggle on the price.  I’d sketch on site and then also photograph some scenes.  Later on, I’d incorporate a combination of what I had seen and put that into a painting.”
